ACOFP-CA Awards

ACOFP-CA awards are designed to recognize California D.O.s in good standing as ACOFP-CA members who exhibit the exemplary characteristics of an osteopathic family physician.

These include leadership and demonstrated commitment to osteopathic philosophy, patient care, community involvement, and education

2012 Award Winners

The ACOFP California Physician of the Year 2012 deservingly was awarded to Alesia J. Wagner, DO, FACOFP dist.
The ACOFP CA Educator of the Year 2012 was presented to David Connett, DO, FACOFP. 

2011 Award Winners

The ACOFP California Physician of the Year 2011 deservingly was awarded to Steven D. Kamajian, DO, FACOFP.
The ACOFP California Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Jay Porcelli, DO, FACOFP dist.

 

2010 Award Winners

The California Physician of the Year 2010 deservingly was awarded to; Anita Kay Kalousek, D.O. FACOFP.
In 2000, Dr. Kalousek joined the Department of Family Medicine at COMP as the Course Director for "Essentials of Family Medicine." A continuing passion for medical education has stimulated her to expand the scope of her duties over the past few years and currently she serves as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs with oversight of all curriculum and student affairs for the Osteopathic Medical Students.

M. Jay Porcelli, D.O. FACOFP dist. received a special recognition award for his time and support of ACOFP.

Steven D. Kamajian, D.O. FACOFP received a humanitarian award for his efforts in the community.

Chris Largent received a special recognition award for his time and support of the ACOFP National Auxiliary, serving as president in 2010/2011.

Distinguished Service Award

  • Note that the nominees shall not be a current member of the ACOFP-CA Board or an officer.
    Given to an individual who has made a life-long contribution to the osteopathic profession as a family physician.
  • Selected by the California ACOFP Board from time to time as deemed appropriate
  • Recipient can be retired from active practice.
  • Deadline: June 15

Resident Paper Awards

These awards, presented annually, are open to family practice residents who serving in a residency program of the Centers of Osteopathic Research and Education (CORE).


  • The awards consist of the following:
    First Place ($500); Second Place ($250); Third Place ($125)
